Zamia floridana

$12.50 In Stock: 9

Zamia floridana (formerly integrifolia), the famous ‘Coontie’ is the only cycad native to the continental United States. Forms a low thick caudex that can be kept trimmed of some leaves and grown in a bonsai form or just allowed to fill out for a nice pot plant. The foliage is fern-like with hard, shiny leaflets on fronds up to two feet long (depending on the degree of light). A very easy plant to cultivate. In Florida it grows in a variety of habitats from sandy pine woods to loamy soils in upland hammocks. Good cold hardiness for landscaping in Southern coastal regions.
