A species of mostly cooler mountain zones from Mexico to Costa Rica. A moderately large plant that is often found in clusters, with upright growth of semis-soft, very scurfy leaves of dear gray color. The inflorescence is a simple paddle shape, orange red and yellow in color. A showy plant when in bloom. In cultivation is responds well to potting in a light, well draining media and prefers cooler conditions. This plant is challenging to grow in the hot south, and is not recommended for beginners.
