A species that has had a checkered past with regards to its identity. A shrubby species with long angular stems bearing many branches in short segments to about 3 or so inches long. Very heavily branching and rather woody. Flowers are borne singly at the areoles and are quite large, over .5 inch wide, white to somewhat transparent. This species is found in Espirito Santo state of Brazil.
