This plant from Eastern Brazil is a smaller form of the species paradoxa that resembles the typical form in general appearance, but is much more slender. The three angled stem changes angles each inch or so, giving a braided appearance. Native to coastal deciduous forests in Pernambuco, Bahia and Espirito Santo, but also inland in Minas Gerais. Although rather widespread, it is not commonly seen.
