A small epiphytic species from Espirito Santo, Brazil with stiff leaves in an upright rosette with leaves that flare outwards at the tips. The foliage is lightly banded gray on the underside, lightly pinkish at the base, a show-through of deeper red inside the leaf sheath. It bears a prominent, reddish, claw-like terminal spine. Flowers are deep in the tube of the vase like rosette.
