Guzmania lingulata ‘Fortuna’

Out of Stock

The stuff of legend.  Few plants have been more sought than this jewel.  Native to the misty cloud-forest covered mountain peaks of northern Panama where it remained an elusive treasure for years.  Many sought it but few found it.  Coveted by hybridizers for breeding, with the promise of exciting and valuable new hybrids bearing some of its lovely traits.

A medium sized grower with discolor leaves having a rather purple cast, and bearing one of the most beautiful blooms in the entire bromeliad world.  The inflorescence is a massive rosette of fluorescent red bracts, each tipped with white.  Introduced to the world at a BSI auction in Houston where the first one sold for a staggering $5,000!
