An interesting species, in spite of mainly green in color. The habit is a strictly upright tubular rosette, with a large and typical ‘thumbprint’ in the lower side of each leaf. It has very large spines which give it character and an erect inflorescence with large green flowers. This species grows as a forest epiphyte in Espirito Santo state of Brazil. Rare in cultivation.
