Tillandsia 'Chiquininga' (fasciculata
x ionantha) A hybrid made by
the late Luis Ariza, well known bromeliad
hybridist from the Dominican Republic. This same cross is also known as
nidus and 'Fortin Jalapa' as it has both been crossed by
others and is often found occurring naturally wherever both parent species
live together. This one was made with one of the small growing
fasciculatas native to the D.R.

Aechmea
egleriana An outstanding rarity, oft
confused with Ae. polyantha because of an early illustration by
Margaret Mee. If you have seen this illustration of a massively
bulbous, spiny Aechmea with amultiplebranched panicle of
berries, then this is the plant. Only the name in her book is
wrong. Extremely desirable, this plant remains rare in
cultivation. It is not difficult to grow, but is cold tender.
Vigorous 10in tall seedlings, already forming a bulbous base, in
4in pots,
