Ananas bracteatus albomarginated  A decorative pineapple species with brightly variegated but spiny leaves in a full rosette. The variegation is white on deep green, and blushes pink to red in strong light. The fruit, not considered edible, is bright red, and produces a crown and numerous ‘slips’ at the base. We have just potted (in March) crown cuttings, the top and best type of cutting, now rooting in 6in pots, (may be sent bareroot if not well rooted)
$45.00 #2236
Ananas bracteatus v. tricolor This is the 'reverse' of the more common albomarginated clone. With a broad creamy-white stripe up the center of each leaf, it is surprisingly different looking. It will blush reddish all over in strong light. Rooted and growing in 6in pots,
$45.00 #4147
Billbergia meyeri An unusual species of southern Brazil to Bolivia bearing the recoiled, clock-spring flower petals typical of helicoid Bils. Few, very narrow, very stiff leaves are silver mottled, gray-green and grow to about 3ft tall. The pendant inflorescence has rosy bracts with white and green flowers. Seedlings in 4in pots,
$10.00 #7240
'Billbergia 'Nita' (vittata x vittata) x ‘Caliente’ (Beadle H0945) A dark beauty with plum-colored leaves covered with a  rayish scurf with a hint of banding. About 16in tall with wide leaves and a showy, red-bracted, nodding inflorescence with deep-blue tipped flowers.
5in pots, $20.00 #4859
Bromelia karatas Though described by Linnaeus in 1753, and being widespread from Mexico to South America and the Caribbean, it remains rare in cultivation. A very large grower with moderately stiff, excessively spiny leaves and a nidular inflorescence. The center leaves blush red when in bloom. Large seedlings in 3in rose pots, for the brave or curious,
$15.00 #5546
Canistrum camacaense A moderately large epiphytic species from the Atlantic forest of Bahia, Brazil. A broad open rosette of light green leaves surround a short scape with a tulip-like head of tight branches and broad bracts of orange, with yellow flowers. Mostly shade loving and somewhat preferring cooler temps. 6in pots,
$17.50 #4611
Deuterocohnia brevispicata An unusual terrestrial from the oven-like deserts of Bolivia. We collected this plant near the Rio Azio where it grew among rocks with other species of Deuterocohnia, Puya and Fosterella. A handsome plant, growing to about 30in across, with reddish leaves armed with wicked spines. The inflorescence is perennial, and produces clusters of short branches along the 4 or 5ft spike. Our plants are two year old seedlings, in 4in pots.
$17.50 #77S
Hechtia marnier-lapostollei (km144 clone) A fine smaller species with thickly succulent, very silvery to almost fuzzy leaves. Seedlings of a controlled cross of two purple flowered clones will grow into clumps of miniature heavily scurfy rosettes when grown in bright light. 5in bulb pans
$10.00 #2466
Hechtia meziana x coerulea This a Ray Lemieux hybrid definitely came out looking more like the H. coerulea parent, with semistiff, green, grassy leaves. The leaf margins, although ’spineless’, are very sharp and can give a swift ’paper cut’ to the unwary. For something unusual, give one a try! Young  plants in 4in pots,
$10.00 #1970
Hectic rosea One of the finest of the genus. A rusty-red leaved plant with a showy red inflorescence bearing red flowers. The leaves are very thickly succulent, glossy above and covered with white trichomes below. A fairly large grower to about 30in across, it is native to the arid belt from Western Veracruz to Oaxaca, Mexico. This choice species has never been common in cultivation. We have young plants from our own seed production, in 4in pots,
$10.00 #3756
Neophytum 'Burgundy Hill' One fantastic plant! A cross of Neo ‘Royal Burgundy‘ with Orthophytum navioides, by Herb Hill. A ature plant can reach over 30in across with dozens of deep-burgundy leaves in a dense rosette. One of the best-ever Neophytums. Young plants about 16in tall in 6in pots,
$17.50 #3297
Neoregelia ‘Ardie’ This striking new and really different Neo is a medium sized plant to about 20in across, with ‘almost’ white leaves. Each leaf bears a broad white stripe up the center with just a narrow margin of green on the leaf edge. The center flush at anthesis is bright red. Best grown in moderate light to keep the white appearance. Stronger light puts a pink tint in the foliage, which is nice too. First release, mature plants in 6in pots,
$17.50 #5042
Neoregelia bahiana (Leme #2209) One of the tight, stiff-leaved, stoloniferous varieties from the rocky hills of Bahia. Formerly this species was known variously as pabstiana, intermedia and others, but has been now consolidated as bahiana. However, the uniquely different looking plants are still maintained by most collectors as different clones. This one is fairly new, and came from the collection of Elton Leme. It is reddish in foliage when grown bright and blushes an even-brighter pinkish-red at anthesis. As a member of the Longipetalopsis subgenus, it has strikingly large, decorative blue flowers. 4in pots,
$17.50 #7346
Neoregelia 'Black Forest' A lovely glossy leaved, dark burgundy-red plant with symmetrical green spots. Growth is somewhat upright in a 24in rosette. Very handsome and a great pot or landscape plant. 6in pots,
$12.50 #1172
Neoregelia 'Bob Spivey' A smallish plant to about 12in with rich red leaves and yellowish- green spotting, red leaf tips and slight banding. 6in pots,
$10.00 #2419
Neoregelia 'Fireball' Little rosettes form on six inch stolons, spreading out horizontally, eventually forming a large cluster. Depending upon light and fertilizer levels, the plants will be reddish-green to bright red. Less fertilizer and more light brings out maximum color. 4in pots,
$6.00 #595
or bright red full clusters in 6in wood baskets,
$30.00 #595B

= Great for Terrariums
