Aechmea burle-marxii (SEL 96-0187)
This clone is larger and more robust than the ‘typical’ form, with wide,
channeled, glossygreen leaves. The inflorescence is branching with small

Aechmea chantinii 'Black' A
spectacular clone with wide and gracefully arching dark chocolate colored
leaves, heavily banded with silver. The inflorescence has red-orange bracts

Aechmea 'Echidna' (chantinii x recurvata)
A real nice small-growing hybrid with a fairly compact shape and nice color.
The inch wide leaves are deeply channeled, grayishgreen, with silver

Aechmea kertesziae An
attractive medium sized clustering plant has a cylindrical spike with
rose-red bracts and yellow flowers. A good pot plant or hardy landscape
plant with an upright rosette shape and short stolons. The green foliage
has a dusting of trichomes giving a slight grayish appearance. Multiples

Aechmea mexicana A popular
landscape bromeliad with very wide leaves in an open rosette, tinting red
when grown in full sun. Can grow to over three feet wide. The inflorescence
is a panicle of large white berrylike fruits that turn blue/black when ripe.

Aechmea nudicaulis A nice and
different clone from the vicinity of Chiriqui Grande, Panama, collected by
Harry Luther ‘87. A stiff leaved plant, more open in shape than some other
forms, with silver banding on the leaf undersides and heavy speckling on the
upper sides when grown bright. The inflorescence is short, semi-erect with
crimson bracts and yellow sepals and petals. Stoloniferous in habit, it

Aechmea nudicaulis 'Red Form'
There are many forms of nudicaulis, with but a few officially described.
For the purposes of collector’s keeping varieties separate, cultivar
names are given. This one is simply known as ‘Red Form’, with tight,
neatly tubular 18in tall rosettes of reddish green, growing in loose
clusters. A handsome plant good for pot or mounted culture. Large plant

Aechmea nudicaulis v. capitata
A beautiful, stiff-leaved, tubular species that grows on stout, 6in stolons.
The foliage is purplered, sort of striated in appearance. The inflorescence
is a small cone-like head of yellow flowers with bright red bracts. Grows

Aechmea
recurvata 'Red Form'
A
handsome and hardy, small colorful Aechmea. Reach only 8 to 10in tall.
Their shape is somewhat bulbous, with swollen bases and leaves that
constrict towards the top then flare out. The best feature is the color.
This clone is rusty-red when grown in high light. When blooming, the top
of the plant flushes bright red with lovely purple flowers. Half mature

This Japanese clone is a light green beauty with a tightly bulbous shape and
brilliant red-orange blush on the upper leaves when blooming. We are

from Brazil with serrate, green leaves in an upright rosette. The

Alcantarea imperialis 'Burle Marx Clone'
Yet another form of this popular giant grower. This one is
a choice clone, grown from ‘grass offsets’ from a plant out of the
Burle Marx private garden in Rio. Has deeper

Alcantarea imperialis 'Volcano's Mist'
A clone or possible hybrid with just slightly narrower leaves and more
upright growth than the ’typical’ form. Large plants have a

Alcantarea nahoumii An
impressive giant growing, species from Bahia. The foliage resembles somewhat
the more familiar Alc. imperialis,
but it is leafier and the leaves are narrower. The inflorescence is
stunning, very tall with showy red scape bracts and drooping yellow branches
only at the top of the scape. We have nice

Alcantarea regina A
spectacular species of the seaside cliffs of Parati. The 2ft long purple
speckled, glaucous leaves recurve at the tip and the scape has red
