Collector’s Corner …

Vriesea pastuchoffiana A true rarity. An old species that was known only from the type collection over one hundred years ago and thought to have possibly become extinct in its native habitat, the mountains outside of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Rediscovered a few years ago, it is in danger from habitat destruction as well as collecting for local sale as a landscape plant. An extremely handsome species that in some ways resembles Vr. hieroglyphica but grows even larger and more decorative. We have seedlings, about 5in across in 3in pots.
